Drop-in's Prehistoric Publishing Party
The 2007-08 Dogtown series had an auspicious start last Thursday when a group of fledgling authors presented "We Knew It Would Make an Impressive Sound" to a receptive audience of classmates, tutors, and family members. Contained therein are wildly differing accounts of the same woolly mammoth adventure (assault? hunt?), plus family stories from both Mexico and America, as well as appearances by a golden retriever, a black cat, a pond fish, and an evil clam. Dogtown Books, the monthly collection of student fiction from the drop-in tutoring gang, is one of the many publications 826LA releases with the help of regular volunteers. If the thought of participating in the upcoming DB release for Halloween thrills you, or if you're interested in any of our other opportunities to mentor teens, write 'zines, or construct handicapped-accessible latrines, make your intentions known at iwanttohelp@826la.org.
