Would Harry Potter be as awesome if Harry and Voldemort didn't have twin wands? If the Sorting Hat and Gryffindor's Sword didn't both belong to the same wizard?

Probably not, we think. As important as dragons and magic and such are, it's often the little connections, the unspoken rules that make fantastic fantasy work. Learn a few of the Rules of Magic at this workshop, and write a magical piece of fiction.

826LA Director of Education Julius Diaz Panoriñgan manages 826LA's workshop program, among other things. From time to time, he likes to teach a workshop himself.

Julius read most of the fantasy books in his school library when he was a kid, and The Return of the King is still one of his favorite books of all time. He still likes his fiction with a good dose of the magic or surreal.
