826LA is a non-profit writing and tutoring organization dedicated to supporting students with their creative and expository writing, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. 826LA is part of a national network of 826 chapters, founded by educator Nínive Calegari and author Dave Eggers. 826 was named one of GOOD magazine’s “30 Places We Want to Work.”

LACDAC Internship
Description:
826LA partners with the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture to offer two paid internship positions through the County’s Arts Internship Program. These internships are open to undergraduate and community college students who either reside in or attend school in Los Angeles County, including recent graduates within an eligible time frame. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and meet all program eligibility requirements.
Interns must commit to working 30–40 hours per week for a total of 400 hours over the course of the internship (approximately 3 months). Please note that candidates who have previously participated in the Arts Internship Program are not eligible to apply. Interns gain hands-on experience in nonprofit arts and culture work while supporting 826LA’s mission.

Part-Time Internships
We're always excited to welcome passionate, curious individuals to apply and grow with us through our internship program.
All internships require a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week, and interns receive a $200 weekly stipend, disbursed monthly.

Programs Internship
Description:
826LA is looking for interns who are passionate about education and our mission.
Interns will learn creative ways to engage youth from underserved communities, volunteer management, communications, and the ins and outs of an established educational non-profit. The 826LA interns will support the day-to-day administrative functions of our organization as well as medium- and long-term capacity-building projects. We are looking for enthusiastic, professional, and dedicated individuals who are self-motivated team players with a strong sense of social justice.
General Requirements:
Commitment to a set schedule of a minimum of 15 hours
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and high level of organization
Proficiency with Google Apps (Drive, Calendar, Gmail, etc.)
Desire to work in an organization with a strong spirit of social justice
Completion of a criminal background check, administered by 826LA
Experience with children is a plus
Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, or Russian language proficiency is a plus

Communications and Development Internship
Description:
826LA is looking for interns who are passionate about educational equity and excited to support the behind-the-scenes work that makes our mission possible.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, donor engagement, event planning, and grant research—contributing directly to the growth and sustainability of our organization. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team players with strong communication skills and a commitment to social justice. Interns will support both daily operations and long-term projects that build 826LA’s capacity to serve youth across Los Angeles.
